Anime I Hate
First and foremost, let me say, YES, there are some very popular series that I don't like. Chances are, I'm not going to change my opinion. Sending me insulting and/or threatening e-mails is definetly NOT going to change my opinion. If I get any such e-mail, I will ignore you. Now, onto the page ^____^
Dragon Ball Z
DBZ is one of the most pointless anime I've ever seen. The characters are
dumb, and two dimensional, and the plot basicaly revolves around these huge(and
rather boring) battles. I couldn't find a single likable character in this
show. I know a lot of people like this show, but I don't. Sorry.
Neon Genesis Evangelion
::listens for the gasps:: Yes, it's true, I don't think EVA is "way kewl".
The first time I watched the series, I really liked it. When I went back
for a second viewing however, I started to see how shallow it was. "But EVA's
so deep!!!" people argue. Okay, so because a show has lots of monologues
and is filled with "art" shots, then it's automaticaly deep? Um, I don't
think so.
And then there's the characters. I do like Rei and Misato, and I wonder why such interesting characters couldn't have been graced with a better series. I hate Shinji. No, I don't pity him. I don't like Asuka, I don't find her whole "megabitch" attitude to be funny. I think Ritsuko and Kaji are boring and overrated. Gendo's a bastard and I'm glad Rei kills him in End of Eva.
In short, I think EVA is one of the most overrated domestic anime out there. I think most people like it because of the mecha. I mean, *REALLY*, if you took away the mecha, would ANYONE care about these people? No, I don't think so. I know there are gonna be people who say "You're just not smart enough to appreciate the series!" Maybe you're right. I guess it's just my loss :/
Macross 7
Can you say lame? I knew you could. Macross: Do You Remember Love is a
masterpiece, and both Macross Plus and Macross II were okay from what I saw.
But Macross 7 is the big, swollen, puss-filled blister of the Macross series.
It has no point at ALL. I remember watching this show with high expectations,
and then having them shot down horribly when I see that the main battle sequences
consist of that dork Basara flying into space IN THE MIDDLE OF A BATTLE,
and SINGING to the enemy. Yes, Minmay did it too, but she sang from the saftey
of the Macross, and the song was the key to winning the war. The singing
is pointless in M7, although the songs are pretty good, I guess.
